About the role

We believe AI should work for everyone, not just big tech. Our tools are used by nonprofit organizations and public health agencies in 12 countries to predict disease outbreaks, optimize supply chains for medical equipment, and allocate limited resources where they're needed most. As a junior ML engineer, you'll join a team of 6 and work on supervised learning models for health resource allocation. You'll start by maintaining and improving existing scikit-learn pipelines, then gradually take on more complex PyTorch-based projects as you grow. We invest heavily in mentorship. You'll have weekly 1:1s with a senior engineer, access to our internal ML curriculum, and the freedom to spend 10% of your time on learning projects. We care more about your trajectory than your current skill level.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve existing ML pipelines for health resource prediction
  • Clean and preprocess datasets from public health agencies
  • Build evaluation scripts and track model performance metrics
  • Participate in code reviews and team knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Gradually take ownership of more complex modeling tasks

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in CS, math, statistics, or related field
  • Python proficiency with exposure to PyTorch or scikit-learn
  • Basic SQL skills
  • Interest in applying ML to social impact problems
  • Willingness to learn and iterate quickly
