About the role

We're building an AI-powered translation quality assurance tool for e-commerce companies expanding into new markets. Our system analyzes product descriptions, detects mistranslations and cultural mismatches, and suggests corrections — all using fine-tuned NLP models. This is a part-time role (20 hours/week) ideal for someone finishing a degree or transitioning into NLP. You'll work on data preprocessing, model evaluation, and building test datasets for our translation quality classifiers. A senior NLP engineer will review your work and guide your growth. We're a small team (7 people) and everyone wears multiple hats. Even as a part-time junior, you'll have real impact on the product and direct access to the founder.

Fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Preprocess multilingual text datasets for model training
  • Build and maintain evaluation scripts for translation quality models
  • Assist with fine-tuning Hugging Face models for classification tasks
  • Create and curate gold-standard test datasets
  • Document data processing pipelines and model performance

Requirements

  • Python proficiency with familiarity with pandas
  • Basic knowledge of NLP concepts (tokenization, embeddings, transformers)
  • Exposure to Hugging Face or PyTorch (academic projects welcome)
  • Interest in linguistics or multilingual NLP
  • Available for 20 hours/week
