About the role

This retailer runs weekly promotions across thousands of SKUs and still relies too heavily on broad rules of thumb. We want a senior data scientist who can build better pricing experiments and give commercial teams usable decision support. This is not a research lab. You need to balance model quality, stakeholder communication, and the reality of messy retail data.

Responsibilities

  • Build promo performance models and pricing recommendations
  • Design tests to understand margin, volume, and customer response trade-offs
  • Partner with merchandising on rollouts and exception handling
  • Improve dashboards used by pricing and finance leaders
  • Document assumptions so teams know when not to trust a model

Requirements

  • 5+ years in data science, pricing, or commercial analytics
  • Python and Pandas for modelling and exploratory work
  • SQL for transaction, customer, and promotion data analysis
  • Statistics for experiment design and causal reasoning
  • Scikit-learn for practical modelling workflows
  • Experience explaining uncertainty to business stakeholders
