About the role

Our chatbot platform serves 340 enterprise clients, and every client needs training data that reflects their specific domain, tone, and use cases. A healthcare chatbot trained on retail conversation data makes embarrassing errors. A legal services bot trained without adversarial examples fails on the first tricky question. The quality of training data is the most reliable predictor of chatbot performance in production. As a junior data curator, you'll build and maintain the training data pipelines that feed our client-specific model fine-tuning workflows. That means ingesting conversation logs, cleaning and deduplicating examples, labeling intent and entity annotations, generating synthetic variations for underrepresented cases, and running quality checks that catch data issues before they contaminate a training run. This role has a structured growth path: the senior data engineer who designed the current pipeline will mentor you, and within 12 months you'll have the skills to own individual client data workflows independently. Responsibilities

  • Ingest and clean conversation log data for client-specific chatbot training
  • Run deduplication and quality filtering on training examples
  • Label intent and entity annotations using internal annotation tooling
  • Generate synthetic training variations for underrepresented conversational patterns
  • Build automated quality checks catching label inconsistencies and data drift
  • Maintain data pipeline documentation and version control for training datasets

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python development experience with data manipulation skills
  • Basic SQL for querying and filtering conversation datasets
  • Attention to detail and comfort with repetitive quality evaluation work
  • Interest in conversational AI, NLP, or chatbot development
  • Strong written communication for annotation guideline documentation
