Junior AI Parking Demand Prediction Developer

About the role

Parking availability is a meaningful driver of where people shop, eat, and run errands. A city neighborhood with unpredictable parking loses foot traffic to areas where drivers know they can park reliably. Smart parking systems that predict availability before drivers arrive are good for drivers, good for local businesses, and good for traffic flow by reducing the 30% of urban congestion attributable to drivers circling for parking. We provide mobility intelligence to 28 cities and urban development agencies. Parking demand prediction — forecasting occupancy by block, by hour, by day type — is a core product for our municipal clients who use predictions to optimize pricing, plan enforcement resource deployment, and evaluate the parking impact of new development. As a junior developer, you'll help build and maintain the parking demand prediction pipeline. You'll process occupancy sensor data from 85,000 parking sensors across our client cities, implement the time-series aggregation and feature engineering that feeds prediction models, and create the daily forecast reports that city parking operations teams use. Senior data scientists own the forecasting methodology; you build the reliable data infrastructure they depend on.

Responsibilities

  • Build data pipelines processing occupancy data from 85,000 parking sensors across client cities
  • Implement time-series aggregation producing hourly and daily occupancy summaries by block
  • Engineer prediction features: day type, local events, weather, proximity to attractions
  • Create daily parking demand forecast reports for city parking operations teams
  • Monitor sensor data quality and flag coverage gaps from sensor outages
  • Maintain pipeline as new cities and sensor types are onboarded

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python and SQL development experience
  • Basic familiarity with time-series data and data pipeline development
  • Interest in urban mobility, smart city technology, or geospatial analytics
  • Attention to data quality and pipeline reliability
  • Good communication skills for working with city operations stakeholders
